It’s so short you’d just as easily step on it as notice it. But if you look down and see it, it’s beautiful and smells sweet. It’s also extremely poisonous if you eat any of it.
Squirrels kept eating the herbs and flowers, so I planted a lot of daturas. This is one of two that survived going into the ground. Owing to the local wildlife eating the plants thoroughly, most herbs and innocent flowers tend to be either dead or covered in bite marks. Only the thorny or toxic plants survive unviolated. I almost wish squirrels would try to eat these; it’d be funny to see them hallucinating all over the yard.
